I have two links to two different PDF files. They look identical apart from the file names. One brings up the save as dialogue as expected on a left click in Pale Moon, the other fails - why? Is it because of how the PDF was made. The one that works was made years ago. The one that doesn't very recently. How can I make left clicks download PDF files and also mp3 files. Thanks.
What governs how downloads work?

Thanks, unfortunately it didn't work. PDF files end up with a 404 and mp3 files hung (went to about:blank)

Have you tried Winzip or RAR to pack the files?

Left click to open a PDF is hit or miss, its all on how the browser handles the file.
If Acrobat is installed properly most times the PDF will open in a window where you can then download the file if you want.Does right click then select download work?

There is a html5 download attribute:
<!-- will download as "expenses.pdf" -->
<a href="/files/adlafjlxjewfasd89asd8f.pdf" download="expenses.pdf">Download Your Expense Report</a>Posted 7 years ago
