How best to title an introductory page and its subsets

Before I break a huge photo album into six to nine small pages that will load quickly, I'd like to know if there's an ideal way to name the opening/landing/introductory page so Google Search Console (GSC) rates it accordingly and visitors will naturally and hopefully open the introductory page first.

Here are a few page title options I'm considering.

1. Opening/landing/introductory page is titled "peterphotoalbum-index.php"
The collection of small, quick-to-load pages is titled "peterphotoalbum-1.php", "peterphotoalbum-2.php", "peterphotoalbum-3.php", and so on.

2. Opening/landing/introductory page is titled "peterphotoalbum-opener.php"
The collection of small, quick-to-load pages is titled "peterphotoalbum-1.php", "peterphotoalbum-2.php", "peterphotoalbum-3.php", and so on.

3. Opening/landing/introductory page is titled "peterphotoalbum-landing.php"
The collection of small, quick-to-load pages is titled "peterphotoalbum-1.php", "peterphotoalbum-2.php", "peterphotoalbum-3.php", and so on.

4. Opening/landing/introductory page is titled "peterphotoalbum.php"

I'd like to know your opinion on how best to name or title the album's opening page, as well as its small subsets.

Hi, all:

I've completed a huge photo album that has seventeen pages. (I've used three PVII products in this undertaking.)

I'd like to know your opinion on how best to name or title the album's "landing" or "opening" page.

Here's the landing page that I've currently titled "opener." Is that an appropriate title for Google Search to recognize as the landing/opening page?

I would use a filename that is relevant to the purpose of the page, like:

peter-masterpieces-album-listing.php

This would provide some insight into the purpose and content of the page.

This makes good sense. I trust that Google-search will identify such a named page as the one (of many) to open first.

I'll make this page's name change (and my other sixteen albums' name changes) next week, after Thanksgiving's celebration.

Speaking of which, I'm very thankful for you, Gerry, and your continued support.

I now wish you and fellow PVII customers a very "Happy Thanksgiving!"

Hello, again, Gerry:

A developer friend of mine viewed several of my "Peter Masterpieces" seventeen photo albums, starting with the "album-listing" start-up page that you suggested an appropriate page name for it (shown above). Note: The two "TEST" URLs above are now nonexistent.

Here's the listing's URL:

She suggested that I consider adding something to the <head> section of the eighteen pages: a "canonical tag." I haven't heard of that tag. My Google search effort revealed conflicting results on the need to add a canonical tag to these pages, as well as which pages need such a tag.

Before I delve into this unknown, Gerry, would you please guide me? For my "Peter Masterpieces" album listing page and the seventeen related albums, do you see value in adding a canonical tag to all eighteen pages?

I'll appreciate receiving your guidance with this very much.

Hi Warren,

I'm by no means an SEO expert so I'll share my 'common sense' opinion with you.

From looking at the listings and the detail pages I don;t really see any substantial duplicate content. I would only use the "canonical tag" on pages that contain duplicate content found on your main pages... from what I see this is not the case and I would hard pressed to find any advantage for use in the "canonical tag" on the detail pages, in fact they may prevent these pages from showing in search results.

Just my two cents :-)

I, too, don't see duplicate content in those eighteen albums, except for the opening paragraphs in each. I won't add those canonical tags until Google Search Console makes a recommendation to do so.

Hi, all.

I can't figure out the cause of this newly discovered problem.

The new "albums-listing" page that Gerry helped title (three months ago) doesn't appear in Google searches. In fact, only one of my eighteen "Peter Masterpieces" albums appears in Google's search results when I search for: "peter masterpieces albums warren camp".

In fact, when I more specifically search for "peter masterpieces albums listing warren camp", the new listing page doesn't appear. Neither do any of my pages, except one page: https://www.warrencampdesign.com/peter/photo-album/peter-masterpieces.pg17.php

All eighteen pages have been uploaded over the past four months. And, I've submitted full sitemaps of my site weekly for several months. For no apparent reason, only one of eighteen photo album pages gets recognized by Google.

Kindly suggest what's needed to get Google to recognize all of my photo album's eighteen pages.

I don't want to leave you hanging on this, I was hoping that someone with Google SEO knowledge and experience would chime in. I have no idea why, as I indicated earlier we do not have any Google SEO expertise... I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

Your best option is to seek help or guidance from the Google SEO forums or Google itself.
