   Hi:

   On my seven quiz pages, the 'page counter' script has functioned well for a number of years. But for no apparent reason, I discovered today that four of those quizzes no longer have their 'page counter' working as they should. They now show "0" hits!

   I've compared the scripts of the functional and nonfunctional quiz pages but I see no differences. I also uploaded all the files in my quizzes directory, but to no avail.

   Please show me what I might have done (or neglected to do) to have caused the four quizzes to now have a nonfunctioning 'page counter.'

   Hello, again.

   Not hearing from anyone for two weeks, I thought I'd resend my request.

   I'm unfamiliar with PHP and JavaScript, so I don't know what errors to look for.

   I hope you'll find what's needed to get the four "page counters" to work again as they've been working for years.

   Hi Warren,

   It looks like the page counter for the quiz is being done server-side, php. There is noting on the page that provide a clue. Perhaps check with the developer of your php scripts, the issue is most likely serve side.

   Hello, Gerry:

   I intended to respond to your e-reply much sooner. Unfortunately, it has taken a long time for host/server technicians to correctly address and correct the problem.

   I now know the following about what caused the PHP script on four of seven quiz pages to become nonfunctional at counting successive page hits. The technician advised me: ". . . the error occurred due to a logical programming error (Length parameter value) on the script you provided: Length parameter must be greater than 0 in the file."

   I'm afraid that the "length parameter value" is Greek to me. And I don't yet know why four or seven page-hit counters became nonfunctional at the same time. Nevertheless, the tech assured me that all is well on the server-side and that I needn't be concerned with PHP functionality of those page-hit counters going forward.

   Let me give you my belated "Thank you, Gerry," for suggesting that I ask server-side technicians to investigate the cause of this problem.
