Workarounds? None of these work for me: PVII Extension Manager, DMXZone, Anastasiy

I am using Dreamweaver 21.2 on MAC OS Monterey 12.0.1

There are also other versions of Dreamweaver that I have access to, but version 21.2 was the only one which even presented “Studio VII” on the dropdown menus of Insert and Window >Extensions

Both areas present the title “Studio VII”, but go no further than that.

In the past I was able to successfully install PVII extensions with the PVII Extension Manager. I have read through the Extension Manager threads here and tried both the DMXZone extension manager and the Anastasiy extension manager.

None of these three work for me:

PVII Extension Manager
DMXZone
Anastasiy

Anastasiy did nothing/did not respond. Even reinstalled it. Still nothing. Removed it.
DMXzone did nothing/did not respond. Just opened a window and I could not import or drag and drop any PV11 extensions. Froze and stayed stuck on my screen until I was able to finally remove it. Had to find the Unix executable file with the same name as the Application, etc., to finally move it to Trash.

Question: Are there any plans for an update to be made to the PVII Extension Manager?

Workarounds?

If there are no plans to update PVII Extension Manager, what workarounds are others using? I am capable of manually editing copies of other sites I have made with PVII page packs. But there are some extensions that I have not even used yet (yes, I am a PVII extension collector!) which I suppose I could also manually just edit but I would prefer the ease and time-saving features of using them as extensions in Dreamweaver.

Question: Can anyone share any workarounds (other than DMXZone and/or Anastasiy) that you have had success with?

DMXzone Extension Manager works just fine for me for the latest DW version.

DMXzone Extension Manager v1.3.0 is working fine on my 2019 MacPro running the most recent version of Big Sur and DWCC.

However, after reading your post, I checked my newer MacBook Pro M1 running Monterrey 12.3.1 and I could not get DMXZone to show up (even though the system said it was running?). I went to my System Prefs>Login Items and saw that DMXZone was listed twice? I removed both instances, trashed the DMXZone app, redownloaded the v1.3.0 version, reinstalled, restarted, and now it appears to be working.

Thank you, Choreo!

I checked and the DMXZone Extension was listed under Login Items. “Hide” was checked, and there was an error icon which said, “This item couldn’t be found.”

I was able to successfully delete it from the Login Items list.

I will create a bootable backup with SuperDuper prior to updating my MAC OS to the latest version and give DMXZone another chance. I might not be able to address this until the weekend, though. I will keep you posted!

Hi Dora,

and for others that may be experiencing an issue installing an extension after the recent Adobe Creative Cloud update:

If the extensions do not appear in Dreamweaver, or nothng appears under the Insert-Studio VII menu it indicates a file corruption in the Dreamweaver configs, specifically menus.xml and insertbar.xml. The latest update to the Adobe Creative Cloud app can cause syntax corruption in those two files. It's an Adobe CC issue which we no control over, hopefully they will fix it soon.

This issue will persist until it is fixed. The best way to fix it is to re-create the Dreamweaver user's Configuration folder:

- Quit Dreamweaver

-For Mac, in the Finder, browse to the following folder:

/Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver 2021/(language)/Configuration

- For Windows:

C:\Users\(you user name)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver 2021\(language)\Configuration

- Rename the folder to "Configuration_Old"

- Then restart Dreamweaver. A new configuration folder will be built. This will restore Dreamweaver to default.

- Close Dreamweaver

You will then need to re-install all of your extensions. Use the DMXzone Extension Manager which does not use any of the Adobe CC internals

- Open the DMXzone EM, and select the Dreamweaver version at the center,top. Next, click the X next to each extension that may be listed to remove them from the EM database.

- Now install each of your extensions.

-When finished, restart Dreamweaver. All of the extensions should now be listed.

Hello Gerry,

I tried to reset Configuration due to not being able to import PVII Project Seven extensions. Accessed Library > Application Support> Adobe> Dreamweaver 2021>en_US>Configuration

Renamed Configuration to Configuration_Old, closed DW 2021. Re-opened DW 2021. A new Configuration folder was created. But after loading DW was non-responsive and so I did a force quit. Attempted a second time to use use DW 2021.
Was able to open a file, but the DW top bar with the drop down menus did not respond. Had to force quit again.

Changed names of the new Configuration to Configuration_Test and changed Configuration_Old back to its original title of Configuration.

Now the DW top menu operates properly again; but I am back where I started.

Question: Was I supposed to simply close Dreamweaver and not test for any functionality at all? Don't click on anything in Dreamweaver?

And the try installing DMXzone EM again .. and see if I can successfully get functionality from DMXzone & install extensions (even though Dreamweaver with the "new" Configuration folder appears to have lost functionality?)

I sounds like perhaps you were in the wrong Library folder, you must use the one that is in your users folder:

MacHD > Users > <username> > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Dreamweaver CC 2021 > en_US > Configuration

Hello Gerry,

I checked it, but the path I used looks good to me:

Macintosh HD > Users > doracrow1 > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Dreamweaver 2021 > en_Us > Configuration

The only difference I can see is that in your path it says Dreamweaver CC 2021 and in my path it simply says Dreamweaver 2021.

These are all the DW apps and folders listed on my Macintosh HD:
Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2019 (folder)
Adobe Dreamweaver 2019.app
Adobe Dreamweaver 2020 (folder)
Adobe Dreamweaver 2020.app
Adobe Dreamweaver 2021 (folder)
Adobe Dreamweaver 2021.app

Adobe Dreamweaver 2021 is the one that I did the configuration renaming tests on at Macintosh HD > Users > doracrow1 > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Dreamweaver 2021 > en_Us > Configuration

Looks like you have the right folder path. Try doing the rename again, but this time be sure that Dreamweaver is closed before doing the rename.

After the rename, start Dreamweaver, but give it a bit of time to rebuild the configuration folder before attempting to use it.

Thanks Gerry! I am finally getting somewhere. (You were correct, I should have given Dreamweaver more time to rebuild the config folder.) I re-download DMXzone and I was able to add 4 extensions to it -- and then it did freeze up again. I had to stop it via the Activity Monitor in order to get the DMXzone window off my screen.

I checked Dreamweaver and it showed the extensions I had added. So I gave DMXzone another chance, and was able to add a total of 9 extensions and the Harmonium pagepack!

I tested creating a Harmonium page and was successful.

So, while DMXzone appears to still freeze up at times, at least I know how to remove its window from my screen and restart it again. I have plenty more PVII products to add, but will save that for another day.

Thank you SO much for hanging in there with me on this!

I downloaded and installed the DMX Zone extension installer and attempted to drag the P.7_IRM_125.mxp and .zxp on to the interface and on both attempts got an error messages that a litany of files could not be found, I could see no further links, menu items or buttons to introduce P7 extensions. Obviously I am missing something, On the site I need P7 IRM, P7 pm3, and P7 PSSM. I have downloads for all.
I went to youtube for a tutorial but not much help there. I did do the folder rename routine.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am using the DMXzone Extension for Mac, so if you are using a PC, the interface may be different.

To add extensions I found that I had to click on the file folder icon. There is also a search area, “Find extensions” there, too. I haven’t tried that method yet. Both the file folder icon and the search bar are located in the upper right area of the interface. You can view an image here: https://www.dmxzone.com/downloads/media/22670/DEM4.jpg

I have not tried to "drag and drop", but accessing the files via the file folder icon worked for me.

Also, I am only adding the .zxp versions. Hope this helps!
